The Surge: “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” – Zachariah 4:10 (NLT)
The scripture Zachariah 4:10 reminds me of this painting because of how the painting took way longer than I had anticipated, and was not turning out as I had envisioned. Many times, I thought like scrapping the whole thing, except that it was one of the few metal panels I had left at the time. The process was one of applying paint and removing layers, over and over again, and not knowing the end result, all the while praying for God’s direction and intervention. Then it happened. In the midst of removing a layer the seafoam appeared perfectly. I had stayed the process, and God again used his natural processes which are evidenced in His creation to intervene. As I struggled through this process my knowledge increased, and fears subsided as I just kept experimenting. The painting turned out great, but ultimately the true blessing came through the process itself. My prayer is that as I follow His path, I will never despise the beginning and the process, but that I will always take joy in the journey.
