Garden: “The Garden” uses God’s physical laws to create rust which forms the base layer that provides depth and texture. A fellow artist who has been an instrumental part of my journey had a quote by Andre Gide on his website: “Art is a collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does the better.” Therefore, I used actual fig leaves from my garden to form both the leaf rust and the leaf texture on the painting, before removing them.
The scripture from Genesis 8:22 “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” serves as a reminder for me to rejoice in his creations.
The original painting on steel measures 42”H x 16”W x 1.5”D. “Garden” has a gloss finish.
